Reiki

What is Reiki?

Reiki energy work is a holistic healing practice that originated in Japan in the late 19th or early 20th century. The word “Reiki” is composed of two Japanese words: “Rei” meaning universal or spiritual, and “Ki” meaning life force energy. Thus, Reiki can be translated as “spiritually guided life force energy.”

The fundamental belief in Reiki is that there is a universal life force energy that flows through all living beings. When this energy is low or blocked, it can lead to physical, emotional, and mental imbalances or illness. Reiki practitioners aim to facilitate the flow of this life force energy, promoting healing, relaxation, and overall well-being.

What happens in a Reiki session?

The practice of Reiki involves a trained practitioner who acts as a conduit for the healing energy. They place their hands lightly on or just above the recipient’s body, channeling the Reiki energy to where it is needed most. Reiki is non-invasive, and recipients can remain fully clothed during sessions. It can also be administered from a distance, known as “distant healing.”

At Austin Transformational Health, Dr. Bryn has been a certified Reiki master for 35 years, and has been trained to channel energy.

What does Reiki feel like?

The experience of receiving Reiki can vary among individuals. Some may feel sensations such as warmth, tingling, or relaxation, while others might experience emotional release or a sense of inner peace.

Why Reiki?

Reiki is commonly used to reduce stress, promote relaxation, alleviate pain, and improve overall well-being. It is also applied in conjunction with other therapies to support emotional healing and spiritual growth.
